FDA ticks Xuriden

Xuriden (uridine triacetate) has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration, as the first ever FDA-approved treatment for hereditary orotic aciduria. Hereditary orotic aciduria is a rare metabolic disorder, due to a defective enzyme, resulting in the body being unable to synthesize uridine, a necessary component of ribonucleic acid (RNA). The disease has affected around 20 patients worldwide, the FDA said.
