WITH just under a week to go until APP2024, it's confirmed that the Queensland Minister for Health, Mental Health and Ambulance Services and Minister for Women, Shannon Fentiman (pictured), will attend the conference's Women's Networking lunch.
"It's very exciting to announce this a day out from International Women's Day; this is one APP function not to miss," said Qld Guild Vice President and the lunch's MC, Amanda Seeto.
"All of our Queensland members are familiar with Minister Fentiman, as she has been integral in working with us on the Queensland Community Pharmacy Scope of Practice Pilot."
The Pilot will see community pharmacists being able to work to a full scope of practice to give more choice to patients and remove critical pressure from hospital emergency departments.
"Community pharmacists have enjoyed a very constructive working relationship, and we are very much looking forward to hearing more from Minister Fentiman when she addresses attendees at the lunch," added Seeto.
She also mentioned that the Minister's responsibilities are broad enough that all attendees will take something out of her content.
"The Minister's responsibilities include the full gamut of public health such as disease surveillance, alcohol and drug prevention as well as the registration of overseas healthcare professionals, ambulance service and women's policy," commented Seeto. JG
