THE Pharmacy Guild of Australia's National President Trent Twomey (pictured) will provide insights into the evolving landscape of the sector's future at the Pharmacy Careers Summit 2024 (PCS24).
Twomey told Pharmacy Daily that for attendees looking to secure a pharmacy internship, this is the event to attend, "as almost every pharmacy banner group in the industry will be advertising their intern positions at PCS24".
He mentioned that today Australians can ask their pharmacist for more things than they have ever been able to before.
"What we're doing today is far more than what we were doing 20 years ago, and I know the next two decades are going to be just as exciting as we move to full scope," he commented.
Twomey added he holds a 'soft spot' for emerging and early career pharmacists, remembering what it was like as he started out in his own career.
"I remember my own journey as I started out in pharmacy, but early career pharmacists today are faced with challenges unique to this moment in time.
"There's a lot to learn on this new frontier of pharmacy and I encourage all of you to sign up to attend the summit.
"After all, you never know where the connections you make today will lead you, tomorrow," he said.
Twomey will also present on the newly signed 8CPA (PD 03 Jul) as it is a "significant evolution for the future of our businesses and more importantly, for shaping the future of care of Australian patients".
"I'm excited to speak with our next generation of pharmacists, because they will reap many of the long-term benefits of this new agreement as they move into the workforce and pharmacy ownership," he remarked.
The Guild will be presenting sessions on the future of pharmacy with the Leaders Panel, exploring new horizons, and discovering pathways for internationally-qualified pharmacists considering a career in Australia.
Presented by Raven's Recruitment and Pharmacy Daily, the second PCS24 will be held on 05 Jul.
