THE Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Victoria Branch, has welcomed the Victorian Government's announcement that GPs who undertake accredited training will be able to diagnose and treat ADHD in children and adults.
The decision brings Victoria in line with Queensland, NSW, SA and WA, which are already phasing in similar reforms.
"This important decision ...will ensure patients are able to access the treatment and support they need without costly referrals or long waits," said the Guild's Victoria Branch President, George Tambassis.
"We have seen how successful this approach has been in community pharmacy and it's pleasing to see other healthcare providers being able to expand the range of services offered," he added.
