THE Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC) prosecuted a complaint against Newtown pharmacist Amine Abi Salloum before the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, resulting in Salloum's registration being cancelled with a non-review period of one year.
The complaint alleged that Salloum inappropriately dispensed Schedule 4 and Schedule 8 drugs over a period of two years from Apr 2020 to Apr 2022.
During this time, he failed to verify prescriptions that looked forged or fraudulent; did not conduct stock checks of buprenorphine and methadone; failed to keep the drug register at the pharmacy in accordance with appropriate standards; and failed to ensure the loss of methadone was reported to the relevantauthorities.
