A CO NCEPT being piloted across
England and Scotland is the use of
hub-and-spoke dispensing, which
provides robotic dispensing of
repeat prescriptions at dispensing
hubs for delivery to patients’
homes and pharmacies.
The approach is designed to save
space and time for pharmacies,
improving efficiency and the
potential for greater profitability.
The hub and spoke model sends
electronic prescriptions from
pharmacies to remote distribution
centres and delivers medication
straight to the patient’s home
freeing dispensaries managed
by trained, accredited checking
technicians to dispense only acute
prescriptions manually.
Boots recently announced the
