A NEW report from the Grattan
Institute has highlighted 63
localities in Vic and Qld which
have had “potentially preventable
hospitalisation rates” at least 50%
higher than the state average.
The report says it’s “unacceptable
place-based inequality and a
warning sign of system failure,”
noting that the high hospitalisation
rates are widely spread, not
necessarily linked to lower socioeconomic
areas and can involve
concentrations of quite different
