Kids consumption up

A NEW US study has found children’s chronic medication consumption is on the rise, with year-on-year prescription-spending for child meds up 10.8% in 2009. This growth was found to be four times higher than the rate at which adult consumption rose. The data also found that in 2009 around 25% of insured kids, and 30% of teens aged 10-19 filled a prescription to treat chronic conditions, incl. juvenile diabetes which saw a 5.3% hike in medication use.
