DIGITAL medication management company MedAdvisor, 14% owned by EBOS (PD 24 Oct), has announced a new partnership with National Asthma Council Australia in order to support pharmacists to deliver best-practice asthma management.
The agreement, which will place MedAdvisor as National Asthma Council Australia's preferred partner for pharmacy engagement, will make it easier for pharmacists to access education and resources relating to asthma management.
Education material and resources relating to best-practice asthma management will be available through MedAdvisor's PlusOne software, which is currently used by over 50% of Australian pharmacies, the company said.
Further to the partnership, pharmacists will also be able to automatically email customers with how-to videos for using their inhaler correctly.
With up to 90% of Australians not using their inhaler correctly and a large variety of inhalers and brands available on the market, MedAdvisor says these videos will help those living with asthma to remove the confusion around how to properly use their device.
The video will be emailed to a customer after receiving an Inhaler Technique Service at the pharmacy.
National Asthma Council Australia ceo Siobhan Brophy said, "MedAdvisor's significant reach into community pharmacy will allow us to provide the latest education and practice support to pharmacists to counsel patients with asthma and/or allergic rhinitis.
"Technology in pharmacy has come a long way and we are excited to be partnering with a company that is focussed on delivering better health outcomes through innovative digital solutions."
MedAdvisor ceo Robert Read says the partnership with National Asthma Council Australia will result in more engaged pharmacies and better health outcomes.
