LISTED digital medication adherence platform MedAdvisor has announced an extension of its agreement with Bupa, meaning patients with the health insurer will be offered the MedAdvisor system when they are discharged from certain Healthscope hospitals.
The move is part of a new Healthscope/Bupa program called 'Always Events', which aims to tackle the issue of medication related hospital readmission.
Healthscope ceo Robert Cooke said "Always Events are the important, non-negotiable elements of healthcare that should always occur for all patients.
"The initial focus of this agreement is on improving medicine use, with a program to provide end-to-end medication support for high risk patients."
Always Events will use the MedAdvisor platform to track and manage post-discharge adherence, with the program to initially launch at Sunnybank Private Hospital in Queensland, Norwest Private Hospital in NSW, Como Private Hospital in Victoria and Darwin Private Hospital in the NT.
MedAdvisor ceo Robert Read said the choice of the system for the Always Events service "provides strong credibility for our platform.
"We look forward to working with Bupa to improve patient outcomes by helping recently discharged and high risk patients manage their medication as they return home."
Bupa md Dwayne Crombie said the agreement was "an example of how the private sector is taking action to improve the coordination of the health system and ultimately provide better patient care".
