THE Federal Government has announced measures to address the healthcare needs of women suffering from endometriosis and complex gynaecological conditions.
Starting 01 Jul 2025, two new items will be added to the Medicare Benefits Schedule, ensuring extended specialist consultations of 45 minutes or more are covered.
The move aims to provide timely and appropriate assessments, reducing waiting times for critical diagnoses and treatments for women.
With a $49.1 million investment, approximately 430,000 additional services will be available nationwide.
Initial consultations will receive $168.60, while subsequent consultations will be reimbursed at $84.35 for a minimum of 45 minutes.
