New course to help pharmacy assistants with pain relief medicines

A NEW online QCPP Refresher Training course for pharmacy assistants aims to help them give advice on Pharmacy Medicines to relieve pain. The ‘Medicines to relieve pain’ QCPP Refresher Training course emphasises the ASK, ASSESS, ADVISE protocol and appropriate pharmacist referral. The learning objectives for this course are to: • Identify and differentiate between the different types of Pharmacy Medicine analgesics. • Describe the action of each of the active ingredients available in Pharmacy Medicine pain relief medicines. • Identify the appropriate choice(s) of Pharmacy Medicine analgesics for a given customer profile. • Apply the Ask, Assess, Advise protocol within a customer case study. • Identify customers and situations where a request for a Pharmacy Medicine analgesic requires referral to a pharmacist. Pharmacy assistants can access the course for free via the Guild Academy’s online learning site, myLEARNING.
