New Veteran program

THE Department of Veterans’ Affairs has today launched a new Insomnia Management Update as part of the Veterans MATES service. The program includes a Therapeutic Brief about reviewing the risk of hypnotics, discussing the risks and adverse effects associated with benzodiazepines and benzodiazepine receptor agonists. It also suggests practical ways to reduce the use of these medicines in patients who are willing to do so. The Insomnia update is the 31st topic in the extensive and growing list of resources provided by the service. A new Veteran Brochure on The myths and facts about sleep provides information about sleep and sleep medicines - see www.veteransmates.net.au.
