PHARMAC has announced
changes to funding access criteria
for various vaccines following
consideration of feedback
on prevoius changes to the
Immunisation Schedule.
From 01 Jul, varicella vaccine
would be amended to read
“varicella vaccine” and access
would be widened to include
vaccination of patients with inborn
errors of metabolism and contacts
of adult patients who had no
clinical history of varicella and
who were severely compromised,
PHARMAC said.
Other effects included that the
number of doses for meningococcal
vaccination pre and post
splenectomy would be increased to
three and funded access would be
widened to include patients with
HIV and complement deficiency,
as well as funded access for
pneumococcal conjugate vaccine
13 vaccination being widened to
include patients with HIV.
