THE incidence of whooping cough
in New Zealand has doubled in one
year according to a report in Fairfax
media late last week.
The alarming figures highlight the
critical need for higher awareness
and facility to enable more
complete population vaccination,
authorities said.
Of particular concern was
malignant or critical pertussis
which created complications that
could be fatal, said Dr Anusha
Ganeshalingham, a paediatric
