THE National Health and Medical
Research Council (NHMRC) has
released a new draft framework to
guide development and application
of ‘omics’-based tests, including
transcriptomics, metabolomics,
epigenomics and proteomics, with
a focus on genomic testing, open
for public consultation.
NHMRC ceo Professor Warwick
Anderson said ‘omics’-based
technology could deliver more
effective and better targeted
treatments and improve screening
for genetic disorder.
“It is timely for Australia to agree
to adopt principles to protect
interests of consumers and to
ensure research integrity.”
