PAROXETINE, a serotonin
re-uptake inhibitor approved in
Australia for treatment of major
depressive illness, has now been
approved by the US Federal Drug
Administration in lower dose (7.5
mg/day) for the treatment of
moderate to severe vasomotor
symptoms associated with
menopause, also referred to as hot
flashes and night sweats.
The product is given as a oncedaily
bedtime dose of 7.5 mg for
