Pharmacy Guild confirms build up in 5CPA program claims.
The Pharmacy Guild of Australia has said there is a backlog of payment claims for 5CPA programs such as Home Medicines Reviews and MedsCheck programs.
Previously, under the Department of Human Services system, pharmacists who submitted claims in the first two weeks of the previous month would be paid in the first week of each month, the Guild said. It took over the administration of registration and claims for the 5CPA programs in March.
“Unfortunately, due to the large number of registrations and claims that had to be handled during the transition of these systems, not all payments have been processed and a backlog has developed.”
The Guild said it was committing extra resources to “urgently address” this and its 5CPA team was making multiple payment runs each week, with the aim of fortnightly runs on an ongoing basis.
“We appreciate the patience of pharmacists in the face of immense frustration over the past two months while the online processing system has been implemented.”
Payment for claims lodged by 14 Apr should be received in the next two weeks, it said.
“Addressing the backlog of claims is our most urgent administrative priority.”
