THE International Pharmaceutical Federation says the global pharmacy workforce is expected to expand by up to 40% between 2016 and 2030.
The figure was unveiled in a new report released at the FIP World Congress in Glasgow this week.
"Pharmacy workforce intelligence: Global trends" maps the worldwide pharmacy workforce capacity and its growth to regions and country-level economic indicators.
Low-income countries have experienced the slowest growth, and the report's authors warned of a continued widening income-based capacity gap.
Another key trend was the increasing gender gap in the sector, with 72% of the total global pharmacy workforce predicted to be female by 2030.
