A new survey conducted by listed medication adherence specialist MedAdvisor is claimed to show demand for e-health solutions including getting repeat scripts online is a challenge GPs will need to manage in the near future or risk losing patients.
The poll of more than 3000 MedAdvisor users found there was a surprisingly high demand for e-health services like online consultations and script renewals.
The study also revealed that the majority of patients (67%) generally prefer not to change doctors to access services, but there is a "huge, perhaps even surprising, demand for new technology services" such that in the 18-40 year age group, 42% would go to a different GP for online access if necessary.
"Older respondents aged 61 and above expressed almost as much interest in e-health services as other demographics," the firm said.
The survey was conducted ahead of the launch of MedAdvisor's new GP-Link service which allows patients to request repeats through the MedAdvisor platform.
