UK e-health move

BRITAIN’S Royal Pharmaceutical Society has released a decision tool for community pharmacists, guiding them as to how to access a patient’s electronic “Summary Care Record” (SCR). SCRs are an online summary of key clinical information taken from a patient’s National Health Service GP record, and authorised health professionals are able to view a patients’s SCR (with the patient’s consent) to find out information relevant to clinical decision making. Rollout of access to SCRs to community pharmacies in England was announced last year, with community pharmacists to receive a one-off allowance of £200 for joining the scheme.
