THE National Union of Workers yesterday slammed what it described as a "widespread culture of sexual harassment, bullying, and exploitation of labour hire casuals" at Chemist Warehouse distribution centres in Preston and Somerton in Victoria.
The union group noted that former and current employees of the pharmacy juggernaut would testify this week before the Australian Human Rights Commission National Inquiry into Sexual Harassment in Australian Workplaces to make formal statements over the issue.
"This will assist the National Union of Workers' ongoing investigation concerning Chemist Warehouse," the union said in a formal statement, quoting one of its officials, Jenna Christie, saying the situation was "one of the worst cases I've seen as an organiser".
After entering one of the Chemist Warehouse sites last Fri to conduct interviews with workers, the union has also issued calls on social media seeking more information.
