NEARLY three out of 10 US drugstores that were open during the previous decade had closed by 2021, with Black and Latino neighbourhoods most vulnerable to the retail pharmacy closures, according to new research.
Shrinking reimbursement for prescriptions, rising costs and changing customer shopping habits are putting pressure on pharmacies, and the chains have reportedly been closing money-losing stores and transferring prescription files to more profitable locations.
