US/AA merger soon?

BANKRUPT AMR Corp, owner of American Airlines, and US Airways have given the strongest hint that a merger announcement could be imminent, issuing a joint statement on the completion of employment discussions for pilots. Terms of any forthcoming announcement remain bound by a non-disclosure agreement in place from late last year, following a formal all-stock $8.5b bid made by US Airways in Dec (TD 11 Dec).
