THE recently launched Faculty of
Pharmacy at the University of
Technology Sydney (PD 11 Aug) is
set to gain exposure through an
upcoming public address by UTS
head of Pharmacy, Professor
Charlie Benrimoj, as part of the
UTSpeaks lecture series.
Dubbed ‘A Medicated Nation’, the
free lecture on 13 Sep will feature
“leading UTS researchers in
pharmacy” who will take a “critical
look at how medications are
prescribed and consumed in
Australia”.
Speaking alongside Benrimoj will
be Associate Professor Mary
Bebawy who specialises within the
fledgling faculty in the “role and
regulation of the xenobiotic
cascade in drug disposition and in
cancer multidrug resistance”.
The lecture will examine whether
the Australian community is getting
value for money from medicines,
and “whether new approaches to
the responsible use and explanation
of medicines could be adopted”.
