New research investigating time
and dose responses of vitamin D
supplementation in overweight
African Americans with suboptimal
vitamin D status has demonstrated
that a much higher than normal
dose of 4000 IU monthly is required
to suppress intact parathyroid
hormone, a critical factor in chronic
kidney disease.
Published in BMC Obesity, the
authors urged more research on
individualised dosing for this group.
