QUEENSLAND'S Metro South Health Board chair Terry White (pictured) has announced his retirement from the position, drawing warm tributes from the Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Cameron Dick.
"I want to thank Terry for his leadership, insight and commitment to the health service over the past five years," Dick said.
"I commend Terry on his calm and steady stewardship of the organisation, and acknowledge his personal commitment to the work of delivering quality health services to the residents of the Metro South region.
"I wish Terry and his family well and thank him for his service."
White, Terry White Chemists co-founder with his wife Rhonda, said the most inspiring part of his time as board chair had been working with health services staff.
"This has been one of my greatest career highlights and an honour to work alongside so many passionate, caring, hard-working individuals who come here every day to deliver extraordinary care for our patients and community," he said.
"It has also been both a pleasure and a privilege to work with such an outstanding board and executive leadership team."
White said the health service's achievements were a credit to its 15,000 staff.
"Metro South Health staff are a truly remarkable, inspiring and caring group of professionals who embrace innovation and clinical excellence, and who do so with a positive and person-centred approach," he said.
White finishes his role on 05 Oct.
