Yet another NZ recall

NEW Zealand pharmacists are asking “when will it end,” after the country’s seventh patient-level medicine recall so far this year was announced this morning. This time the affected product is Novo Nordisk’s GlucaGen Hypokit 1mg injection, with batch number YW60459 which has been in circulation since September 3rd. NZ Pharmacy Guild ceo Annabel Young said it’s believed there are more than 2800 of the injections in the market. “Luckily for pharmacists, prescribers will be responsible for contacting patients to whom they have directly supplied Hypokits. “The work for pharmacists will be managing the replacement process,” Young said. She urged pharmacists to keep a record of their time and costs in doing the recall, and send a bill to Novo Nordisk for the recall service which they are providing at the company’s request.
