Zika recommendation

AMERICA’S Food and Drug Administration has issued new guidance for immediate implementation providing recommendations to reduce the potential transmission risk of Zika virus from human cells, tissues and tissue-based products. The guidance addresses donations from both living and deceased donors, including umbilical cord blood, placenta and other gestational tissues. The move follows similar guidelines issued last month aiming to reduce the risk of Zika virus transmission via blood transfusion. See www.fda.gov.
