the use of rosiglitazone (Avandia),
with health professionals reminded
to “closely observe the current
contraindications and monitoring
requirements” for the drug, and “to
consider alternative treatments
where appropriate”.
A Europe-wide review of Avandia
was initiated in Jul after data
indicating increased cardiovascular
risk associated with the drug, and is
anticipated to reach its conclusion
