LOUISIANA is the latest US state to expand the use of medical marijuana, with nine newly licensed pharmacies expected to begin selling locally produced cannabis before the end of the year.
Demand is expected to soar after lawmakers changed rules to allow the drug to be dispensed for new conditions including chronic pain.
However relatively few doctors have so far registered to write prescriptions for marijuana, and they are also currently restricted by a 100-patient cap.
