THE Health Department has highlighted to prescribers that the deferasirox (Jadenau/Exjade) 'N'mg dispersible tablet and 'N'mg film coated tablet are equivalent for the purposes of substitution, but are not a-flagged to permit pharmacist substitution in the dispensary.
The Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme website details the issue, noting a change will be made to clinical criteria in the PBS Schedule on 01 Feb 2019 - pbs.gov.au.
