AMERICA'S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Trulance (plecanatide) for the treatment of Chronic Idiopathic Constipation (CIC) in adults.
Taken orally once daily, it works in the upper GI tract to stimulate secretion of intestinal fluid and support regular bowel function.
Trulance is a guanylate cyclase-C (GC-C) agonist, with the drug's maker, Synergy Pharamceuticals, also planning to seek approval for its use in treatment for irritable bowel syndrome with constipation.
