VIGILANCE online: Pharmacy owners are reminded to be especially vigilant in protecting against identify theft, a crime which is experienced by 20 per cent of Australians.
Here are a few simple steps to protect yourself and your business from cybercriminals who want to steal your identity:
* Know how to spot scam messages
* Be extra careful if you need to click on a link after opening an email
* Never provide your details via a link in a message or use such a link to access your bank accounts
* Set your social media accounts to private to minimise the likelihood of cybercriminals piecing together information on your social media to steal your identity
* Lock your computer when not in use (just as you lock the door when you leave the house)
* Use different password for each of your online accounts.
