Medicines Australia has urged
the involvement of the “innovative
research-based medicines industry”
in the federal government review
of university research funding and
policy in Australia.
The review aims to find more
ways to turn the work of Australian
scientists into commercial success.
MA ceo Tim James welcomed
the appointment of Ian Watt
to lead the review, but said the
organisation was disappointed that
the review panel will “not include
a single member from a researchbased
industry such as the makers
of innovative medicines”.
James said MA members spend
a billion dollars a year annually on
R&D in Australia.
“Science has the potential to be
one of the great industries for the
Australian economy...however
for this to become a reality we
need to see the good words of
the Government become strong
actions,” he said. The above article was sent to subscribers in Pharmacy Daily's issue from 09 Jul 15 To see the full newsletter, see the embedded issue below or CLICK HERE to download Pharmacy Daily from 09 Jul 15
