DAVID McConville has been appointed as the new chairman of the Victorian Pharmacy Authority (VPA), replacing Toni Riley who has stepped down after three years.
Also leaving the VPA are Richard Mullaly and Robert Jamieson, while new members include Marie Ritchie as a community member, and Brendan Moar, proprietor of Corner Amcal Bairnsdale Pharmacy, with the trio appointed from 01 Jul 2018 until 30 Jun 2021.
The Authority has confirmed the ongoing pharmacy ownership audit, which is looking at a random selection of 12 pharmacies to determine if their ownership arrangements comply with the undue influence provisions of the Pharmacy Regulation Act 2010.
So far six of the 12 have been found to be satisfactory, with more documentation or information sought in the other six cases.
