A NATIONAL campaign to find "the face" of its first Vaccine Ambassador program has been launched by the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA).
The successful applicant will become the public advocate for pharmacist immunisations, pushing the advantages and benefits through media and other public-facing engagements and forums.
The role is being supported by vaccine makers GSK and Pfizer.
Media training, ongoing support and speaker opportunities will be provided by the PSA as the ambassador champions pharmacist immunisations and general vaccine uptake among the community.
"More Australians are accessing vaccinations through their local community pharmacist than ever before, but there is always more we can do to drive the national conversation on immunisation," said PSA National President Associate Professor Fei Sim.
A/Prof Sim urged pharmacists passionate about advancing the cause to step forward and apply.
"We can't wait to help someone share their passion and drive for immunisation, to inspire and be an ambassador for our profession."
The ambassador will also receive support to represent their role as an attendee at industry conferences and events including PSA25.
"If you're an advocate for the profession and committed to improving public health outcomes through accessible, evidence-based care, I encourage you to put yourself forward to be our inaugural PSA Vaccination Ambassador," A/Prof Sim concluded.
