WHO nods Coartem

Novartis has announced the approval for pre-qualification of its malaria treatment Coartem 80/480mg, opening up greater access for patients. Coartem is the first and only high strength (80/480mg) Artemisininbased Combination Therapy (ACT) antimalarial treatment available for public sector procurement. The availability of this product may be able to help relieve suffering for as many as 25 million African malaria patients, Novartis said.
