THE Pharmacy Guild has highlighted the readiness of ACT pharmacists to administer the whooping cough vaccine, after the release of new data which indicated the nation's capital had the highest incidence of pertussis in Australia in the first quarter of 2017.
Guild ACT Branch president Amanda Galbraith said, "Currently 37 Canberra pharmacies have pharmacists trained and are ready to administer whooping cough vaccination to adults."
New regulations now position highly accessible community pharmacies to provide a broader range of vaccination services to benefit public health, she said.
